Be back soon

October 25th, 2007

Sorry for the lack of posting – lots going on.  Grandma is here hanging out with Miss Sabrina.  We went to Opry Mills today and Grandma treated Sabrina to some new fall/winter clothes so I think she is set now for the coming season.

I’ve also been digesting a situation that recently came up with some friends.  I’m very hurt by some things that have happened.  I’m 35 years old and ended up crying myself to sleep last night over this situation – that made me feel 13 again.  Do we ever reach an age where we can shrug off finding out that people don’t like us?  Intellectually I can accept that not everyone can like me.  Professionally I accepted years ago that being effective was more important than being liked.  But, in my personal life, I find it hurtful when people I like have been discussing how I am apparently the root of all evil in the world behind my back (that phrase makes me feel 13 too).

So I will return to licking my emotional wounds and watching Sabrina enjoy her Grandma.  Blogging will happen when I stop feeling like my self confidence has been knocked back to my 13th year.  I’ll post some Grandma photos soon.

I’m sorry that you have been hurt – especially by friends. That just sucks. But I know what you mean – sometimes certain situations leave us feeling more like a child than an adult.

    Hope you’re feeling better soon.

people I like have been discussing how I am apparently the root of all evil in the world behind my back

WHAT?? Please tell me this is hyperbole and not really what was said.

    Because what? You? No way.

I swear some people work their whole lives just to re-create High School.

    HUGS

I’m sorry. I don’t have anything smart to say. People often suck but it doesn’t get any easier to accept no matter how old we get. Take the time you need.

  4. Ashley Says:

Wow- ALL evil in the world. You are one powerful broad ;) Do you think you could zap Barrios with your red lazer eyes?? I’d appreciate it!

In all seriousness, I hope you feel better about it soon. It’s unfortunate these things happen!

  5. Andrea Says:

I don’t know that we’ll ever get past that “Mean Girls” thing. As much as we’d all like to, sometimes we’re all just a bunch of 13 year olds. Hang in there, enjoy the time, and we’ll see you when you get back.

Maybe you could do a Memo? ;) I miss those.

  6. elle Says:

you know, chicks can be real bitches. Sorry you are on the ass end of it. Hugs babe.

  7. TNKerry Says:

That girl gossip mean crap always irritated me. Guess that’s why I was always better friends with the guys. My whole life most of my friends were guys that treated me like a little sister – much easier than dealing with a bunch of phony females.
Sorry your “friends” are stuck in Jr. High.

  8. Tricia Says:

Sounds a ton like Junior High to me – YIKES.

Take your time – you know we are all here for you whenever you return!

  9. Julie Lussier Says:

HUGS to you. Girls can be sooo mean. Trust me I know. (why did I shut my blog down, why do I not post on any message board). You just really do not know people.

Enjoy Grandma and Sabrina, that will bring a big smile to your face!

Take your time with getting yourself together again.

    Jules

  10. Kim Says:

Some people are amazing. And I agree with Ashley – I knew you were pretty special – but I didn’t know you had the powers to be the root of all evil. Wow – what could you do with that power? I’m sure we could come up with some great stuff. After all, if you have it – you might as well use it.

I know – why don’t you start out by sending yucky things the way of the 13 year olds that are talking about you? ;)

  11. tonya Says:

Good grief. Oh.. you arent evil, just drawn that way. HA!
Tell em to bite ya. Really, that stuff does suck and mean people suck. Dont stay away too long.

  12. Deb Says:

    Michelle,
Don’t let the mean girls get to you – we all love you. Come back and play with us!!!

    Love to you,
    Deb

  13. Rachel Says:

I’m sorry that people have been mean in this way. Why can’t people grow up. This is one reason I have decided to not go to a high school reunion; I don’t think people let their “clicks” go even though they’re now in their 30′s. I choose to keep in touch with those who are my friends, but I can forgo all the other high school bitchiness:) (okay, why did I go down this road….)

  14. Andrea Says:

Hope you feel better soon…I miss the Sabrina cuteness:)

  15. Soltana Says:

Wow the things people come up with these days. I don’t know you personally…just threw blooger land but you seem like a very sweet and caring person. Don’t worry…real freinds love you for who you are…
Hope you feel better… Hugs from VA :)

  16. DD Says:

You mean you’re NOT the root of all evil?! Cause wouldn’t that be a rather spiffy title to have? If you were, you could give your juvenile friend(s) crotch rot or something.

  17. Trace Says:

The “root of all evil”? Are they in high school? How catty and juvenile. I’m sorry…

  18. Beth Says:

    Don’t words hurt!?!?
Hoping the words of your blogger pals lift you up… you are wonderful.

  19. Amy Says:

    Screw them, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!

  20. Ashley Says:

Yeah… I went through that recently ( still kind of am). WIsh I had words of advice, but that would be medicine I need too… and I just have not found it yet. Maybe when we are 50 those things will just not matter or HAPPEN for that matter.

I am sorry… and know that friends (real friends) are people who love you for who you are and what you stand for… no matter if you agree with what they are doing or not… or how different or alike you are.

My best friend is my complete opposites… whatever you can think of to describe me… she is the opposite. And we love each other for our differences… not because we fit into the same box.

  21. Alleen Says:

I really don’t think unless you are cold and heartless that you ever stop being hurt if people say mean things and don’t like you. It’s only human and means you have feelings that are normal.

I sure can’t see where anyone could think that about you. I’m sorry that it has happened and has you this upset.

  22. Cheryl Says:

    Michelle,

And here in MA last weekend your ears should have been burning (or nose itching, or whatever supersition applies) because I met another mom who has a daughter adopted from Guatemala and on our playdate we discovered we both read (and enjoyed!!! key point) your blog!

A quote I heard yesterday that might apply here (repeat after me):

My heart is pure and my cause is just.

    Much love,
    cm

  23. Laurie Says:

Sometimes people just totally suck, plain and simple. I hope you told them to suck your big toe.

  24. Gibb Says:

You put super glue on her locker handle and I’ll tell everyone that she sucks her thumb and wets the bed.

When all is said and done, it is refreshing to realize that you can write off people that suck because you have a fabulous life filled with people who love you.

  25. Sig Says:

I was in that situation very recently, unfortunately. I had to make a decision to leave a group I have been friends with for quite a long time. It hurts, but we LOVE you here!!! And to hell with the, they ain’t worth it!
