First Pigtails

November27

How on Earth do all of you manage to get pigtails in your child’s hair?  Sabrina is way too busy to sit still and let me play with her hair.  I’m luck to get a barrette in.  I did finally manage to get her very first (and very messy) pigtails in today.  They lasted for 15 minutes until she realized they were there and promptly yanked them out.

Does anyone else have this toy cat?  You press a button on it’s belly and it meows and vibrates.  It is really loud and rather annoying.  Somehow we ended up with 2 of them without buying even 1.  Sabrina can honestly play with this thing for an hour straight.  She will just hold the button down and laugh while it meows and vibrates.  Or maybe she is laughing at the nerve in mommy’s eyelid starting to twitch after 5 minutes of listening to it.  And she has figured out where the on/off switch is so I can’t even turn it off.

Steve’s out of town for a couple of days so I am playing single mom.  Hats off to all of you out there who do it 365 because it is rough knowing there is no one to hand off to in the evening.

    1. S and E are SO ALIKE in the hair yankage. I have no idea why emma will wear a hat for hours and yanks those things out in seconds.
    B. no cat here! the vibrating sounds interesting 🙂
    Im a child.
    2. hang in there with the hubby thing. MAN it is HARD flying solo.

My daughter has that cat toy, too. Fortunately, the battery wore down enough that it only meows. It doesn’t vibrate or play that creepy circus music anymore.

And there never will be new batteries either. I’ll get you my kitty!

LOVE the pigtails!! I was always pretty lucky, and my girls left them in….I am loving life with a boy’s hair!!

We have you one-upped on the toy thing. My Mom bought a dollar store snow globe that plays a really LOUD annoying song. Reese plays it constantly. I am going to start playing a drinking game where every time he turns it on I get to take a drink. It will help with tolerating the noise!!

Oh, the single parent route. I always wonder how people do it every day too. The days always seem sooooooo long!

Pigtails and annoying toys are interesting…but what I want to know is how the heck do you keep her out of that full dog food bowl? (I see it in the background of one of the photos). I have successfully brainwashed my kid to not touch the water bowl…with his hands. He thinks its ok to kick it to watch the water move, and we have now graduated to throwing things into the water bowl..that’s not technically touching it so I get why he thinks its ok…good grief!

Welcome to my world 🙂 Although, Gabriella is getting better about letting me put a rubber band in and leaving the bows for quite a while now. So, I’d say just keep trying and she’ll tolerate it more. If Miss G will allow it, I KNOW Sabrina will eventually.

We don’t have the cat, but we have a giggling, bouncing, vibrating cow.

Hi Michelle. The pig tails are super cute!! : D Emma would love the kitty. : )

Emma is BUSY. The only way that I can put pigtails in her hair is to strap her into her high chair and give her something REALLY interesting…a non toy item like a muffin mix bag or a plastic whisk or something just so that I can distract her enough into letting me put the pigtails in. The cute pony tail holders that you are using are pretty easy to pull out. At Walgreens, I have found VERY tiny little bands that come in a pack, about the circumference of a pea and they are much harder to yank out (although they are not yank-proof…Emma has managed to pull them out maybe twice). Emma will pull out her barrettes…I don’t know how to solve that problem. : / Maybe if I get to Walgreens before sending your card, I can pop a pack of bands in the envelope.

    God bless.

We’ve got the vibrating, mooing cow. Once Tommy realized how to make it moo, it hasn’t stopped! But it’s not as bad as the baby piano that is banged on at least half the day every day.

Sorry you’re flying solo fo a few days. I was just thinking yesterday (when it was 7PM and DH wasn’t home from work yet) how hard being a single mom must be. I LOVE hearing my husband’s truck pull in the driveway every evening (hey…mom’s need a break, too).

    I LOVE the pigtails.

Bad commenter these days… barely time to post, but had to chime in on the cuteness!!!

The pigtails are adorable. Breahna has started pulling everything out of her hair again. She left them alone for a while.
We have the elephant. I wondered where that twitch I have came from- now I know.

    Pure cuteness!!

As the single mommy to a 1 yr old AND a 2 yr old, it always makes me chuckle when the married folks fly solo for a few nights and realize how hard it is 🙂 Hang in there!

Cute pigtails. She will out grow pulling them out. Maya went through a phase where she wouldn’t leave anything in her hair. Have fun being a single parent. I am finding out that it is a lot harder than I thought. However, I LOVE IT!!!

I LOVE her boings (as I would call them)!! They bounce when you walk so therefore, they boing – I was a unique kid – whatya’ do?!! Sonja screams while I put them in, but then she’s fine and so far has left them alone!

  15. On November 27th, 2007 at 11:52 pm Sarah Says:

Oh my gosh… she is so cute in pigtails!!!!

I can empathize on the obnoxious meowing cat toy, only ours is a different animal… but the same twitch starts not long after it starts getting played with!!

Hope you are surviving your single mommy time!!

It took a long time to get Piney to keep her clips and bands in- still they never last a day. Good thing you got a picture because she looks adorable and pictures last.

How cute are her pretties (what Cerah and I call her ponytails) I use the little bands that look like the bands for braces. I go tmine at Walmart..like 500 for $2.00. Cerah never pulls them out because she can’t get her fingers to pull them. They seem to be doing the job. Hope you find some that help.

I think we have a PIG like that…HATE that thing..it oinks alllll day long…but sounds like the batteried are running out..OH DARN!!!

I got one of those for Emily (it was a gift) but ours is an elephant. Even the dog is afraid of it. I’m just saying…it IS an obnoxious toy, isn’t it?!?

    Love the pig tails.

Try a little heavy tape over where the sounds come out. That usually quiets the sound just enough to keep eyelids from twitching. 🙂
