Anyone want to buy a house?

Steve and I have spent the last couple of weekends driving around different areas to see where we might want to buy a house because we have this wild hope that our house in Pittsburgh might sell someday (it is currently listed for significantly less than we paid for it which I find very depressing). Today, I think we found the place and a house that we would like to live in. The town is far enough from the city that it has a small town, kind of rural feel. The rural feel probably won’t last long – they are building a lot of things around it (like a Super Target – woohoo!). But we liked it – it felt like a place we could call home. And after an in depth tour of a house that turned out to be almost 1/2 a million (ummm…not in our price range), we stumbled upon a new housing development. There was one model that we loved. It wasn’t huge (we really don’t want more space than we would live in – it was actually the smallest of the 3 models they have built) – it flowed well and felt like home. They build the homes after purchase so we could choose the cabinets, flooring, counter tops, etc. But, we have that pesky issue of a mortgage on an empty house in Pittsburgh that prevents us from doing anything other than drooling for now. I’m losing hope that the house will ever sell. We did a search of homes in our area of Pittsburgh in our price range and there were over 100. Doesn’t bode well.
On another note, tomorrow I supposedly officially hit the 12 week mark. So many people have told me how I will magically start to feel fabulous at the 12 week mark so I am giving you all until noon tomorrow for the crankiness and other annoyances to disappear and then I’m going to come looking for you all.

my parents are paralyzed with regards to putting theirs on the market for that very reason.
(shakes head wondering why she, too, has 2 homes within blocks of eachother at the moment)

It’s funny how they always say, Now that you have adopted you will become pregnant.
Now three of my blog buddies is expecting..And I think that is wonderful.
How about buying a house in SW Kansas? I’d love to have you as a neighbor. The commute might be a little long though.

We were lucky enough to still make a significant amount on the sale of our house even after dropping the price $40,000.00 for that very same reason – there were 52 houses on the market in that price range. But, we bought the house almost 20 years ago before anyone discovered the charm of the “last best place” to live.

I know how you feel, our house in KY has been sitting empty for almost 6 months now and has been on the market since July….we made the mistake of looking for homes out here too and it was really depressing knowing we can’t buy one until our house sells!!!!!

I do hope that you sell your home soon…I have been wondering about that. I am so sorry that it has not sold…I am sure that you can think of A LOT of other things to do with your money than to pay TWO mortgages!! : /

Just a thought, but when we found our dream house, we signed with a realtor that would BUY our old house if they couldn’t sell it within so many weeks so we culd buy it. You might be able to sign with a nationwide realtor like Remax and see what they can do with you.
I would say most people start to feel better around 14 wks., so my advice (for what it’s worth) is to give yourself a little cushion…probably not going to feel all better by tomorrow…but soon!
sorry…I’ve lived in the Burgh…we live in the south now, that is typically warm.
