Baby Watch 2008

February22

Saw my doctor, yet again, today.  She was actually pleased with some of my test results (nothing pleases the woman).  My Quad Screen results were all negative.  I did test positive for Group B Strep – some kind of bacteria that will require IV antibiotics during delivery.  The baby was bouncing all over the place during the ultrasound.  The doctor did make some effort to determine sex.  The baby wasn’t particularly cooperative.  The couple of between the leg peeks that s/he allowed didn’t reveal any boy parts…but the doctor said that sometimes the scrotum gets folded up on the abdomen  so she wasn’t confident enough to make a call since s/he wouldn’t give us a good look.

Sabrina was fascinated by the ultrasound.  She obviously had no idea what it was but she stared at the screen the entire time and giggled every time the doctor turned on the sound to hear the heartbeat.

I’m feeling good.  Still a bit tired but mostly because I haven’t been sleeping very well at night.  I think I’ve felt the baby move around a few times but then I convince myself I imagined it.  I have to say it is a very freaky feeling.

The fetal movements are sort of hard to recognize. I thought they were gas at first.

I had Strep B too. Got some antibiotics and all was fine.

I have a feeling that is a baby you are feeling. It is a very weird feeling at first. THEN, they start to hurt you. By the time they come out you have put them in time out several times.

    Glad all is well.

Yep… had group b strep too and all is well. At first the movements feel like gas bubbles and then just get stronger and stronger! I’m glad things are going well for you!

Glad about your tests. I huess we will all have to wait a few more weeks to know if you will be having a girl or a boy 🙂
Group B strep is not serious as long as you know that you have it and you get those antibiotics. Start asking for the antibiotic as you walk into the hospital. I had it with both my boys. With my second they knew, I got the antibiotic and all was well.
My first was born prematurely, they did not know and he did contract the Group B strep. Things were scary for a while. Not saying any of this to scare you. The good thing is that you know and as long as you get that antibiotic in you, I think the chances of the baby contracting Group B strep are ZERO!!! (Has always made me wonder why they didn’t just give me the antibiotic to begin with since they did not know)

Enjoy the little flutters you are feeling. Heck, enjoy it even when they are kicking the SHAT out of you, believe it or not, you will miss it one day!

So glad everything is still going well!

Awww…..I remember the first time I ever felt my son move. It was so light and fluttery (is that even a word??). I wasn’t sure what it was – thought it might be gas bubbles. Light and fluttery will soon give way to knees, elbows, hands and feet sticking out and poking everywhere!

I had Group B Strep too and was so scared (but of course I was paranoid with everything for the entire pregnancy). Turns out lots of people have it. They gave me antibiotics when I went into labor and everything was fine.

    Glad everything is going well!

So glad the visit went well, despite the inability to for sure tell what s/he will be! Your doctor must have sensed that if she didn’t get her act together somewhat, you were going to let her have it!! 🙂 Never have experienced the flutters, but I hear that it is super cool!! I”m too old to experience it or even WANT to experience it now!! I have two and now a dog – I’m done!!

Good news on the tests! I had the group b strep thing and it was no big deal.

You probably are feeling the baby! I always wonder too with each baby if that’s really it, then one day you are certain and you realize it was the baby all along!

Glad all is well at the Dr.. Cerah was the same way..she kept her legs crossed at all 3 ultrasounds..but it was great when she finally came out and they said ..it’s a gilr!!

Maybe next time s/he will let you see:)

    Have a great weekend:)
