Sign of the Apocalypse?

June24

The first high heeled crocs:

Don’t get me wrong…I own a pair of crocs (your standard ones – not the high heeled design).  They are super comfy and maybe I’ve even worn them to the grocery store once or twice despite swearing they would never leave the house (hey this water retention makes fashionable shoes difficult).  But these are a little too bizarre fashion forward for me.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. Wrong. There is NO reason for the world to be subjected to high-heeled Crocs. Actually, I take that back. I hope I see someone wearing them soon so I can mock them endlessly.

(Can you tell I’m not a big fan of Crocs? heh.)

    Yes. It is a sign.

I would like to own a pair of crocs but just can’t bring myself to do it!!! The high heeled ones are a huge NO!!!

  4. On June 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm Jamie Says:

    These hurt my heart. Seriously.

  5. On June 24th, 2008 at 8:20 pm Bobbi Says:

I am not sure if they are cute or ridiculous!!!

I too own crocs for around the house, but at times they sneak out with them on.

oh my goodness. That’s just plain wrong.

  7. On June 24th, 2008 at 10:35 pm Rhonda Says:

Some people do swear by them, hmmmm, not one of them!!!!!

  8. On June 24th, 2008 at 10:52 pm melany Says:

I can’t help it. I admit it – I love them. And I don’t even own the normal ones. There is something about a red, rubber high heel that just makes me smile.

I just do not understand WHY a company would make such a thing. Aren’t there enough awful temptations out there. To add high healed red plastic shoes for adults….serenity now.

The chemo must be getting to my head. I dislike crocs, don’t own them, don’t plan on ever buying them, but I thought these were cute. Heaven help me.

Ok, so I have to admit I am a crocs fan. I actually own the style above…without the heal..the new criss cross straps are actually very cool. Anyway… even for me… a crocs fan… that is just RIDICULOUS.

I’m a crocs fan — LOVE the flip flops, tolerate the chunky ones but THESE…..OH! MY! LORD! Uhmmmm, you won’t be finding these in my shoe rack.

I think they are rather cute, especially in red. I just worry about how they can be supportive. If you want something a little more substantive, try Danskos. I’ve been wearing this pair to work every day now for the past several week (in brown) and they have saved my life.

Also, my husband who thought crocs were a *croc* got himself a pair of flip-flops based on another man’s suggestion. While he loves them, he doesn’t love my clogs. But in my defense, they are garden/house shoes only.

    OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I don’t think I will be gettting those..

  15. On June 25th, 2008 at 8:23 am Brenda Says:

I just don’t think crocs should be worn by adults. Cute on kids but not for adults. That would be like adults walking around in Jellies in the 80’s..yikes!!

Anything with a heel has got to be better than the original design…I just wish they were a little cuter and not so geriatric looking.

AGREED _but_ I just got a pair of Crocs Malindi and I love ’em!

  18. On June 25th, 2008 at 9:50 am elle Says:

Oh the Manolo is going to have a field day with this one.

I too own a pair of classic purple crocs, but mind are nasty and dirty like a GARDENING SHOE should be. That doesn’t mean I haven’t inadvertently worn them to Trader Joes (with olive pants and a red sweatshirt) or anything. Oy.

I love my crocs!!! Last summer I had plantar fatiatus and they were a God send to me. These I think are actually kinda cute. But what I love is your title. You are the best writer! I don’t always agree with your point of view, but I can appreciate them and the thought you put behind them. I know with Tessa coming soon you will be very busy, but I hope that soon after you’ll be able to get back to making us laugh, informed and think!
take care soon to be mommy of 2!

  23. On June 25th, 2008 at 4:32 pm Muriel Elrod Says:

I’m not loving them. I am not loving any kind of heel lately though. ðŸ™
Soooo it is hot today and I am so stinking gross. I want to sit in a baby pool filled with cold pudding (chocolate) until thsi kid comes.
Are you doing cord blood storage? I am not sure at this point…seems like a lot of money to me.

  24. On June 25th, 2008 at 6:57 pm Steph Says:

Ooooooh, Muriel, I want to tell you my sad story with cord blood storage – the OB cut the cord during my csxn (my baby b4 our adoption) and the Viacord people were there waiting for the box. Apparently the idiot doctor cut it too SHORT so they couldn’t use it. (I gave the guy the Viacord instructions – but he was clearly an idiot) I am still reeling from that – b/c they didn’t have it with my first 2 and I will be SO PISSED if something happens to any of them and I need that cord blood. (We have a family history of childhood leukemia)

Anyway, I agreed to donate the cord blood to “science” so they could do stem cell research with it. Viacord then adds insult to injury by sending me to collections for failure to pay for storage. It was a huge mess with my credit – they suck b/c I “gave” them the cord to use for research but they failed to close my account.

Oh Muriel, you brought back bad memories! Can you tell?! LOL!

oh yikes. and i thought my husband was nuts for buying his “off road” crocs. people, it’s just molded plastic, get over it.

  26. On June 26th, 2008 at 2:29 pm Stephanie Says:

They’re actually not half-bad. I’d have to see them “on” before making a verdict…

  27. On June 26th, 2008 at 9:21 pm Martha Says:

I too have a ‘stylish’ pair of crocs – the Cleo model. Very comfy and very light, can barely tell you have them on.

I’m a big Crocs fan, but I can honestly sat, “Um. No.” to those.

  29. On July 3rd, 2008 at 8:05 am Jamie Says:

    Uh, just NO!

Yuck. I am probably the only mom in the world who does not wear Crocs. Don’t get me wrong, I love comfy shoes like flip flops, but for some reason we just haven’t jumped on the Crocs bandwagon.
