Teaching my children to question authority, except mine.

Yawn

July23

Yesterday’s inspection issue has been the most exciting part of my week.  Seriously, I haven’t gone further than the driveway since Sunday.  The trip to the mailbox each afternoon is our highlight this week.  I’m going to have to force myself out of the house to get myself to Target at some point because the infant seat I was expecting for Tessa never arrived so I have to go get one or I hear they won’t let me leave the hospital with her.  Picky, picky…wanting to ensure the safety of my newborn before letting me drive off with her – the nerve of some people.  And we might make it to the grocery store but I am a serious couch potato this week.  Every time I try to venture further than the mailbox, I start having contractions or spasms in my back muscles.  So I sit my butt back down.  I really don’t want the first words I hear after my water breaks to be “Clean up on aisle 5” so I am being a wimp playing it safe and staying close to home.

Anyway, I had a point when I started all of this.  Oh yes – BlogHer.  I was looking forward all weekend to reading all of the BlogHer stories.  I enjoy it every year – the silliness, the socially awkward moments, the booze, the drama – it makes for fun reading for those of us who don’t attend.  And I usually find some fun new blogs to check out from all of the linking going on.  But this year?  It might just be my mood but I’ve been feeling let down.  Everyone says they had fun.  No one complained about feeling left out. No real drama (a comment during a key note speech is all I’ve read about).  Of course everyone and no one only encompasses those blogs that I’ve looked at – perhaps I am missing some with angst and drama.  Obviously the lack of angst and drama is great for the attendees but those of us with our noses up against the BlogHer window want some entertainment!  Going on and on about how fab everyone was and how great the conference was – boring!

There are going to be some mini 1 day BlogHer conferences in different cities in October.  One of them will be here in Nashville.  I will likely attend and I promise to make up some drama and angst even if none exists.

4 days before I delivered Sabrina, I went grocery shopping at a store I know, but not as well as my “regular” store. I actually CRIED because I couldn’t find beans to go with my hot dogs.

I’m not interested in the BlogHer stories anymore, particularly from repeat attendees. I do still love hearing from the noobs. Maybe I’ll go next year, which is what I said last year (and the year before)

OK – get up and at ’em – we need a really eventful and dramatic story of Tessa’s arrival – load Sabrina up for a day at the mall. How cool would it be to deliver in Gymboree???????
heeheehee – I know – I am mean like that;)
It would make for a very exciting blog post;)

You must give a BlogHer blurb… for those of us who do not have any idea what it really is… but see it all the time.

If I had a seat to pass your way I would, but I do not… you do know that there is a consignment going on (still I think) at the SH Children’s Home directly across from SH Elem. You just might check there.

My biggest fear was for my water to break in public… 3 deliveries… all 3 times the Dr. had to break it!

OK, are you trying to deprive us loyal readers of some fun??? Come on. It just wouldn’t be you if this pregnancy doesn’t end with some kind of drama and a story that only someone else could laugh at! So, yeah, like Julia said…… get out there.

Now don’t forget your laptop to the hospital. We expect a blog right after delivery!

Yeah, all the BlogHer posts are um, boring! You’re having a nice time, we’re the loosers that couldn’t go. Yada yada. 🙂

Oh and don’t worry about the water breaking thing. It’s usually not a huge gush like you see on the movies. I sprung a little leak. It was so little that I thought I peed myself and it took me awhile to figure out what it was. LOL Oh and there is a good chance your water might not break at all before you are well into labor.

They better not charge you a fee just because you were in the shower. Can’t wait to hear about the good news!!!

    Drama and angst in Nashville?

I can probably help with that.

I worked with a lady who carried a glass bottle of apple juice around with her the entire last month of her pregnancy when she went out in public.

That way if her water broke, she could simply drop it on the ground and pretend that was what the spill was from.

A tad extreme but it made her feel better!

Ok I just LOL at Kelly M’s apple juice story. I think maybe you should steal that idea! Seriously though, why not just relax and enjoy yourself as best you can during these last few days before Tessa’s arrival? What has touched me the most is that you are really relishing the time with you and Sabrina. Can’t Steve stop at BRU and get you that seat?

TOO funny!!! I was the same way… I din’t want to be that lady… but the DR had to break my water both times. Don’t worry… go have a good time.. I like the apple juice story:)

Oh and going to the mailbox was th highlight of my day too…

I have been a lurker for a while now. I had a baby last year and went into labor 4 weeks early. As the Dr. was checking my cervix my water broke all over the table and him. I did warn him that I was leaking. Good luck with your delivery and can’t wait to see pictures!

We could stage a fight at the reception that night. Or we could try and compete for face time with Lindsay or Busy Mom. Or we could try and out due each other during Q&A after forums and speakers. The possibilities are endless…
