A little levity
November 7th, 2008We all make typos but if you are sending something out for printing or putting it up for the public to see – ask someone to proof read it!
This sign went up 2 weeks ago at the development next to mine. There is one at each entrance. I want to call and ask if I can pay for an “all brick” home with “real money”.

I think this is my favorite:

They should stick to reading because their writing isn’t so good:

Talk amongst yourselfs:

At least they spelled “balloon” correctly:

I’m smiling because YOU’RE a moron for not getting someone to proof read it first:

Happy Friday ya’ll.

15 yard penalty for unnecessary use of quotation marks.
15 years in the pen for apostrophe abuse.

Support the library’s what? That’s awful.
I’m sorry to say this is the first time I’ve ventured outside my feed reader to your blog since you redesigned it — it looks fantastic!

Misspelling is one of my pet peeves as well… when I find one on a sign or in the paper, I find myself getting all upset over it… crazy OCD thing I have. I have always thought I would be a great proofreader (except when I make crazy mistakes like that myself for being to much in a hurry to check things – then I am exempt – LOL!).

It amazes me how many people confuse the words “your” and “you’re”

Very funny. And appropriate, because I just started reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves last night.

Those were great! “All Brick” is a common realtors term up here in MI, I think the realtors/builders must be trying to shorten “it’s the extra deluxe non-sided and will cost you more $” version of the home.

I don’t get the all brick one? I’m in the south and this is used all the time in neighborhood signs. It’s rare and expensive to get an all brick home here so neighborhoods really advertise it.

One double negative would have sent you over the edge, hahahaha.

Those types of errors really bother me. Being a former English teacher I seem to notice them everywhere. By my house there is a hair salon with a sign outside that says, “Your Gonna Love It”. It’s been out there for 3 years. It irks me everytime I drive by.

One of the spelling errors that irks me happens alot on the internet. People spell lose ‘loose’. I am not sure why but this one makes me ‘loose it’. LOL

Oh man! That kind of thing drives me nuts. Or “drives” me “nuts” as the creator of the first sign might say.
Have you ever gone to failblog.org? That has me in hysterics sometimes!

Oh the typos drive me crazy, too. Although, I probably mistype as much as the next guy, I do think if you are going to post a public sign that you should at least double check it. There is a sign (a huge billboard to be exact) on the interstate near me that has the name of the town mispelled. It drives me crazy!!! I can’t be the only person that is noticing that, can I????

I think your favorite is mine too. Some people are stupid.

WHERE did you find these? Or did you really photograph all of these yourself? I cannot get over them—CRAZY! Especially the one from the reading organization! Did some library actually put this up?!
