The holidays are here!

December7

How do I know? I was beaten about the head with Christmas yesterday.

My entire housing development decorated last weekend.  Except for us, of course, because of my “No Christmas decorations before Dec 1st” rule.  They probably decided their neighborhood was diverse now that there was a Jewish family with a Guatemalan child on their street.  No such luck.  The tree appeared in the window and the wreath was hung outside yesterday.

Then I dragged my terrified child to see Santa.  Fortunately, it was a more intimate setting than the mall.  My mom’s club hosted a brunch with Santa yesterday.  Santa read us all a story and then each family got to spend a couple of minutes with Santa individually.  Sabrina thought it was a fabulous idea until she was up close and personal with the big guy.  She wasn’t having any part of that and we weren’t going to force it.  She finally sat on the bench next to him while Steve held her hand.  After we left, she decided Santa was a cool dude because he gave her a candy cane.

Sabrina wouldn’t even make eye contact with him as though he was a feral dog and would attack if challenged. But we did the obligatory Santa photos so we can officially call it Christmas.

HA – we have a bunch of party poopers in our neighborhood. Maybe it will come later, who knows. I am just appreciative that there are no giant Homer Simpson’s on a Harly or Winnie the Pooh inflatables! 🙂

Adorable pics! I’m taking Elizabeth next Sat. to see Santa, we’ll see how it goes!

I still need to take the kids this year. Last year they hated santa and cried. Not so sure that they’ll like him much this year either. Very cute pics!

Just to be clear…no Virginia we aren’t Jewish (not that there is anything wrong with that). I figured the neighbors thought we were since we were the only non decorated house after last weekend.

What a beautiful Santa. The pic with both the girls is just gorgeous, great job.

Hee hee and “Mazel Tov!” (just kidding, I knew you weren’t jewish–not that there’s anything wrong with that) Your comment about not decorating is just hilarious!

LOL…it is bad that I’m giggling? Emma does the same no eye contact thing. It probably should not crack me up but it totally does. Today when she was walking towards my uncle (who she is apparently afraid of for no good reason) at a Christmas party, she suddenly realized that she was approaching “HIM” and she actually turned around and continued to walk towards him BACKWARDS so that she did not have to make eye contact with him!! My aunt and I nearly died laughing…bad, I know. ; ) Cute pics of the kidlets, as always!! God bless.

How I LOVED this post. You go Sabrina! Parents tell you through the year not to make any sort of contact with strangers and suddenly you are encouraged to sit on some weird looking guy’s lap?? I loved her diplomatic pose, surely she was planning how to grab baby sis and flee at the slightest move from the guy in red…

Alayna is so terrified of men (other than Daddy and her 2 Papa’s) that we have not even attempted Santa! Your pictures turned out cute though!

Could Tessa be any more beautiful? Seriously!! And, Sabrina looks pissed at you guys for making her sit with Santa!! But, I love her little outfit. We didn’t push Santa, but somehow Reese knows who he is and loves the man. He hates many members of Joe’s family (just good judgement, I believe), but will hug the strange man in a red suit. Go figure!!

You are braver then I. I have not ventured to this circle of hell just yet.

Really cute pics! It’s funny that she didn’t cry, but just wouldn’t look. Like if she doesn’t look he won’t see her either I guess!

Oh you are far ahead of me – we have nothing indicating Christmas here!!!

Good job at getting the santa pic – we definitely couldn’t have even gotten in the room with him.

We’re actually a bit behind on the decorations just because we’ve been busy. We put our wreath on our door yesterday, but we still need to get our lighted wreaths on our windows. We bought our tree yesterday and it’s in the garage getting acclimated to warmth slowly. We’ll bring it in tonight. And the Santa pic looks great! I think when Phoebe was that age, she had a really scared look on her face and she made my DH and I be in the picture too.
