Teaching my children to question authority, except mine.

Kids 1, Mommy 0

October1

p1000674Yesterday, the kids almost defeated me.  I don’t know what was different but I was beaten down when Steve finally arrived home.  The morning wasn’t bad.  Sabrina declared she didn’t want to go to ballet anymore but changed her mind at the last minute so I didn’t have to decide whether or not to do battle over that issue. During naptime, I started hanging and tagging items for a consignment sale.  If you’ve never done this (this is my first time), there are specific directions.  You safety pin all items to wire hangers.  All hangers must face left.  For some reason, I can not make myself do this correctly.  I have to unpin and rehang 75% of my garments but can’t seem to learn from my mistake no matter how many times I have to re-do it. Hoping this ends up being worth the time invested.

p1000670After naps, the kids were wound up.  They wouldn’t stop hanging on me or poking at each other.  Sabrina wanted to go outside and Tessa wanted to be on my lap.  So we went out so Sabrina could ride her Dora bike and Tessa could sit with me on the porch.  Sabrina was only happy riding for 5 minutes and Tessa wasn’t even happy on my lap.  I was on the edge of losing it so I threw them both in the stroller and went for a walk.  Because – GAH – THE WHINING!  Thankfully, Steve was home when we got back.  And I slept like a rock last night so I am feeling like maybe I can handle the wee ones today.

(Sabrina is concerned that the Hello Kitty on her t-shirt doesn’t have a mouth.  It is all we are talking abotu today.

And Tessa – when does the drooling stop? Or at least decrease.)

At age almost 4, we’re still drooling so much that I could change sheets every night. I just leave them though till the white spot gets a bit too big to hide on the pillows…

oH, how if feel for you! My girls are almost four and barely two. We hit the thrilling threes for the three year old about two months ago (late bloomer). Everything is a fight. It’s either arguing with mommy, fighting with sister, antagonizing the cat, whatever it is, it’s a battle.
Drama, drama, drama. Wears you down.
I am at work during the day, so I have a reprieve from the insanity. Oh how I can relate though.
Your post made me laugh. Thanks for the giggle. Sorry it was at your expense though.

I always wonder if sales are worth the effort but then I do it again. My daughters’ initials are L, A and S. I joked about naming the third one Wilma so their initials would be LAW…my theme song could be “I fought the law and the law won.” I haven’t thought about that in awhile but your title brought back memories since my youngest will be 9 this month. I’ve probably the only one who finds humor in it….

Who? Those two innocent cutie pies? That couldn’t be them?! Oh, there are days like that for all of us. Sometimes I even want to go to bed before they do! And then, the fall asleep, look like angels and the next day, nothing happened.

Good luck with the consignment sale. I HAVE done it and know exactly what you mean! You can expect some of your items to be rejected, the last one I did they rejected an item because they said it was a spring item (we were doing fall/winter items)—-never mind the outfit was sold in the Carter’s FALL lineup—it had short sleeves is why they said it was a spring item…..enough of my complaining though! I’ve been near my breaking point far too many times and I only have one! I can’t imagine how I’d be with 2!

I took many drives when the kids were little..sometimes with them sometimes without them. When Timothy came home from the hospital Derek was 3 1/2, Emily was 2. It was hard!!!! I cried a lot that first week, month, year?? Eric thought he was helping when he said “just imagine Momma Walton with all those kids”–what?? I dont know how I made it through that time. Guess I just was trying to survive and kept going.
Summer gets me now–when they bicker all the time!!

oh that consignment stuff sounds like wayyyyy toooo much work! Those are really specific directions! I don’t know if I’d get it down! How did it go? I always dread the garage sale time here but darn, it feels soooo great getting all that stuff out of the house! Hope the sale went well for you.
