Things are entertaining around here with a new walker/eater. Tessa vacillates between being pleased as punch at her new skills and looking at us like she isn’t sure why we are all making such a big deal out of things.
And Sabrina is 3 going on 13. The things that come out of her mouth crack me up. She was upstairs playing with Steve. I came upstairs and she said “You don’t belong upstairs mommy. Go back downstairs.” Unfortunately, she is spending a lot of time in Time Out for pushing her sister, taking things from her sister, and generally not listening to mommy.
Now that Tessa is getting older, I realize I am going to have to find another time out corner soon.
My attempt at solving the tendency of a 3 year old to not share only works in very small increments of time. I found a wand and crown in the dollar section at Target. I put them up high but visible and told Sabrina that they belonged to the Sharing Princess and she could only play with them when she shares. It is my attempt at catching her being good as I used to tell parents back when I thought I knew what I was talking about taught parenting classes. When she shares, she gets the crown and wand. When she stops sharing, I take them back. Much drama ensues.
great pictures of your two girlies. that’s an ingenious idea to have a sharing princess, complete with all the garb. a good incentive I amagine for good behavior. but oh yeah, when you take them away, I can imagine the tears, if it’s like our house!!!
Going to *have* to try this Sharing Princess thing!!! Aryanna is the Queen of not sharing, or at least not sharing HER toys. She insists that McKenna has to share her toys with her but she never wants to share her toys with McKenna! She is 2 going on 3 going on 13…with a red headed temper to boot!
Well that sounds like a really good idea to me. (On paper anyway!)
Super cute pics!
What (kind of) worked for us at that stage was we told Lily to ask to trade. If she wanted something Charlotte had, I had her ask Charlotte to trade. At that point Charlotte didn’t really care she was playing with as long as she could chew it so it normally went ok. Now that they are older that does NOT fly anymore! Yesterday they were tussling over a stupid green hammer, just because they could! LOL Good Luck and WAY TO GO TESSA!! Keep eating and walking like a big girl!! 🙂
That first photo of your littlest with her hand on her hip is too funny! It looks like she is saying, “Excuse me! Did I say you could take my picture?” Or “I’m cute and I know it.” Or something like that. 🙂
I love the wand and crown idea!!! I may start bringing wands and crowns to work to award people who listen/follow directions/respect timeframes, etc.
seriousWOW.
I cant believe how grown up Sabrina is looking.
Ok, the corner sobbing picture broke my heart. But, I love the dress!!!
What a great idea!! It is not always easy to remember positive parenting. I have to work on it myself ALL THE TIME!!! But, it does go a long way. Soon you will have to use the same psychology with Tessa!!
They are growing up too fast!!
Going through that here ourselves. Ahhh, the energy it takes, LOL It’s so amazing to see how grown up they are already in just a year’s time, sigh
Surely imagine ehtryeving you explained. Ones most liked approval have also been with the web the most convenient factor to adopt directly into accout regarding. My partner and i tell a person, I undoubtedly find irked whilst individuals consider conditions many people obviously don’t realize with regards to.
