Bittersweet milestones

January12

p1020134Tessa has discovered how much she likes to sit in chairs that are her size.  Bottles were phased out awhile ago.  Most days she is too busy to cuddle at all.  And today, the high chair has officially been retired.  Each of these milestones is bittersweet for me because I know that Tessa is my last baby.  Steve and I sometimes talk in the dark of night about adopting again someday but that is mostly to comfort ourselves as we watch Tessa move away from being a baby and Sabrina start looking so much like a girl rather than a toddler.

I ordered a booster seat for Tessa after Christmas.  It is the same model as Sabrina’s – just a different color.  It has been almost 2 years since Sabrina switched over to the booster and I forgot the one design flaw of this model.  The food tray that snaps onto the big tray only snaps in the back meaning curious fingers eventually discover that they can pull the tray from the front and get it off pretty easily.  It took Sabrina 6 or 8 months to realize this and at that point we stopped using the food tray and just used the tray without a cover.  No big deal – the food tray is just convenient to throw in the dishwasher.

It took Tessa 3 minutes to discover this design flaw.  (Note the innocent look on her face.)

The second child is always trouble!!! I think you and Steve are great parents, why only adopt one more!?!??:>)

It is tough as they grow up and pull away from you. It is bittersweet. I love watching who they become, and dream of what they will become, but my arms ache for them as well. Just another one of those parenting things, I guess.

But, while we are discussing it, could you PLEASE tell her and Sabrina to stop growing up so quick. I can’t believe how big and older looking they are!!!

Aitch prefers the booster over the high chair but we keep both b/c as sure as we get rid of one, she won’t sit in the other.

I can’t believe how long her hair is getting.

Bug figured it out quickly too, so I never used it after day one.

LOL! Welcome to my world 🙂 We have the same chair and the tray didn’t last long here either. Luckily we just use the seat part of it now.

It is bittersweet to see these milestones come. I feel for you just looking at Tessa in that chair instead of the highchair. It’s sounds crazy but I miss seeing her in her highchair too. She’s getting so big, so cute, long legs, I’m going to miss her babyniss. I love the babies! Serena went from the highchair to a chair. She used her booster seat once or twice before abandoning it completely a while ago. She just got a twin bed last week. I left her room tonight a little sad. I understand how my mom felt now.
