Teaching my children to question authority, except mine.

And it starts…

March5

I read about other kids having strong opinions about their wardrobe choices.  Until now, Sabrina has only offered the occasional opinion.  I usually let her wear what she wants if she expresses a preference but it doesn’t happen too often.  Today, she had a strong preference.  And it was very pink.  Pink sweatshirt, pink leggings, pink tutu, also pink sparkly shoes.  (Also picture the ponytails and sunglasses she added.)

Tessa has already learned that taking the girlie items will get a reaction.  In her hands here are the play lipsticks and nail polishes from the vanity.  Not seen is Sabrina running behind her yelling “Tessa, no!”

It seems like it was overnight that Tabitha started being picky about what she wore. I used to be able to pick out her stuff and she was like, “ok”. Now it seems like if I suggest something, that is what she definitely does NOT want to wear. She is now at the stage where her socks and panties have to match the outfit too! I do still get some input on what she wears, I hang “outfits” together (tops & bottoms) on a hanger that way the decision time is cut WAY down!

I took my youngest daughter to a consignment sale once. She left wearing pink cowboy boots, a pink tutu, and carrying a pink Disney wand. Apparently there is no such thing as too much pink!!

My little diva lounges on her bed and says, “show me TWO Mama!” I pull 2 choices frm the closet. Then she taps her chin and says, “Hmmm…” as she squints and after about 3 minutes (I’m old and impatient) she will choose one. Otherwise we would be there all.day.long.

Picking out clothing is a big deal in our house everything from socks to pjs. They all have strong opinions.

I think it’s adorable when I see little kids who pick out their own clothes! I babysat for a little girl two weeks ago who was four and her outfits were so cute.
