Bring me your bagels

October15

I only buy bagels once a year despite my undying love for them.  The one time allow myself to have these carby treats in the house is when Einstein Bagel brings out the fall Pumpkin Shmear.  I’m not big on pumpkin flavored items but this is heaven on a bagel (isn’t that redundant?)  It doesn’t last very long – mid October to Thanksgiving I think – so go find some.  We don’t have an Einstein’s here in my area but my Super Target carries Einstein bagels in the bakery along with the smear.  It is pricey but you won’t regret treating yourself.

********

That is all my brain can handle today.  Tessa decided that the doctor’s declaration of colic meant she should live up to it and we had a rough evening/night/morning around here.  I’m going to go see if I can find a way to hook an IV straight from my coffee maker to my veins.

I’m sorry Tessa is being fussy. I too remember that witching hour you spoke of. No fun.

As for the pumpkin shmear… I used to buy pumpkin cream cheese at Brueggers and do pumpkin cheesecakes in the fall. Haven’t done it in a couple years… but am now CRAVING it. Thanks for the reminder. 😀

Oh I feel for you!! My son has colic for an entire six months straight and I’m NOT joking!!! I spent MANY sleepless nights walking the floors with him when nothing, nt even the prescription meds would ease his pain!!

Have you tried Gripe Water? I think they have it at Kroger’s in the baby aisle. It is supposed to be really good for tummy issues and colic related stuff. I will also add that I sent my hubbys cousin to our miracle worker chiropractor because he talked about working with babies with colic, and she said it did not stop her crying but worked wonders. Patterson Chiro Clinic in SH (beside Pancho’s)

well, shall I thank you now or later for making me crave the pumpkin shmear? Guess where I’ll be going in the next day or two???

Hope Miss Tessa gets a little less cranky.

My oldest had the WORST colic for 4 straight months so I feel for you!! When my second child started developing colic at a few weeks old, I started to panic at the thought of doing that again… my midwives had me try a completely dairy free diet* and after 2 weeks, she had no more colic symptoms. Let me tell you, colic is the ONLY thing that would make me give up my cheese… it’s hard, but it worked for me!

*Something about dairy passing threw the breast milk so if you are formula feeding, just switching to soy might help and then you could still eat pumpkin smear… 🙂

I heart pumpkin shmear. I love their whipped almond shmear too. SO good, yet SO bad 😉

I am so sorry Tessa has been colicky. I would lose my everloving mind, and I am not afraid to admit it.

Ohh, that pumpkin smear and bagel sound good.
Don’t forget your little poodle had her immunizations yesterday – they make my seven year old fussy for two days (and she probably weighs 55 pounds). A little ten pound body could easily get overwhelmed. Also agree with other blogger that “colic” is such a catch all phrase for doctors when they don’t know what else to say. They need to seem like they know what they’re talking about. It’s classic “arsenic” hour- a friend once called it – and using the sling to provide movement and feeling snug – can often take care of it. Other mothers have said that they (the babes!) just loose it around that time because it is at the end of a day and they have been busy being stimulated in so many ways and they are just “done.” That would explain why the sling helps.
    Love your new hair.

I think we are in the beginning stages of colic – whew! I am there with you and needing direct injections of caffeine this AM.

oh how I love LOVE LOVE bagels!!! I lived 3.5 years in Africa without them, how did I survive? (oh yeah, with pizza overload). 3.5 years and only ate them once (got them through undergrown connections, litteraly, a friend of a friend knows this anonnymous family who bakes them from time to time but won’t reveal their names for fear of ex-pat mobs asking for more).

    Enjoy your yearly treat!

We have one up the street. I like their sandwiches. I’ll have to look for the shmear.
I often wish I could get a caffeine drip.
