Infusion

First – go see MizFit and leave her a comment.  For every comment between now and Christmas Eve she is donating to her local Domestic Violence Shelter.  That’s good stuff people.

Okay now on with my rambling for the day.  I went to a cookie exchange last night.  It was a moms club event scheduled late enough so as to discourage the attendance of children.  I returned home with this:

There are some yummy things on that plate.  Chocolate cookies with Andes chips?  Better than Thin Mints! Something called dirty snow balls that involve oreos and cream cheese and taste much better than they sound.  Mandel bread which is apparently a Jewish Biscotti and quite yummy because it is softer than traditional biscotti.  And one of my favorites: snickerdoodles.

But last night did more than provide us with better cookies than I can bake myself.  I’ve been feeling a little out of sorts.  I guess it was because I haven’t been getting out enough.  I haven’t been able to get the kids schedules coordinated enough to make it to many of the moms club events.  For various reasons, I’ve missed my book club every month since June.  I was starting to feel like a big old mom blob.  Last night, I laughed and joked and talked with other grown ups about things other than poop.  It was lovely.  It felt like a little infusion of the old me.  And yet again I will say I need to do that more often.

If ever there was a time when it would by handy to be able to reach into the computer monitor and grab something . . .

I’m going to go bake some cookies.

Hey, do you have issues with comment spamming? I’ve been getting HUNDREDS a week and I’m about to give up on WordPress.

I make those Andies candies cookies and they are the simplest cookie ever. I’ll even share…go to the pillsbury website and look up the recipe. Theirs calls for icing but I didn’t go that far 🙂

I remember last year at my annual work cookie swap someone brought some sort of mint cookie. I wasn’t smart enough to separate them when I got home and the rest of the cookies were “infused” with the minty flavor. Beware…zip loc bag those minty cookies.

It’s funny you mention the Andes cookie. The Andes chip cookie was a big topic of discussion at the swap earlier this week because the one guy brought two types of cookies and dubbed the Andes Candies cookie as the “bad” cookie because they were just TOO minty. His exact words were “toothpaste cookie”. Then my brother commented that he should have mentioned he was going to make them because he would have warned him. In my brothers *humble* opinion the andes mints should be used in brownies ;-). I stayed silent as I munched on a snicker doodle…

MANDEL BREAD!!! Delicious. I heart it. I always bring Lemon Bars to cookie exchanges. People go berserk over them.

Speaking of cookies, I once made a cake like dough, wrapped it around marachino cherries, baked them then dunked them in chocolate. They were like a comet. I only made them once before I lost the recipe….

    Sigh.

I think it is great that you got out. You are right, if we don’t get out, it can get kind of depressing. SOmetimes you just have to throw schedules to the wind, and get out and be with other adults. I am there. Not great with getting together with others, and I end up feeling smothered and kind of down.

Sounds like a great get away for you

Very much fun. You are blessed! Just to get even once a month is incredible. 🙂

We have 4 children – NO sitter. I haven’t been out without my children…well…the oldest is now 7 1/2! In 7 1/2 years. Yes you read that right. 🙂 Haven’t been out alone with my husband for dinner in the above many years. Nothing. Not even to the grocery store. And out with the girls? I have no girl friends. LOL 🙂

Not really complaining – that’s just the way it is! But to get out every now & again – well, I guess it’ll happen soon enough. 🙂
