Accounting

January22

It is currently 12:30 1:30 (sometimes hard to finish what I start) and so far today I have*:

Changed 6 diapers.

Fed 2 children breakfast and snacks and lunch.

Fed myself breakfast (Egg beaters with a little turkey sausage and a piece of wheat toast – no poptarts shoved in the ole pie hole here today)

Vacuumed again. (Seriously, it is January – why is the dog molting huge clumps of hair?)

2 1/2 loads of laundry

Unloaded the dishwasher

Sang “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” 4 times and the ABC song 3 times.

Watched 1/2 of RHOC.  (Carla keeps professing her love so I had to check it out.  Only saw 1/2 because it overlapped with Dora and there is no wrath like the wrath of a toddler deprived of Dora.)

Watched Dora with Sabrina.

Danced with the girls.

Cleaned the toilet.

Made a couple of pithy remarks on my favorite social media sites.

Fixed baby doll several times and zipped the over stuffed toddler purse several times and turned down the volume on no less than 7 toys.

Read a few blogs.

Read 8 books to Sabrina.

Thrown the ball for the dog in the backyard in hopes of getting him to quit whining and lie down already.

Cleaned spit up off myself 3 times.

Done the 30 Day Shred (I am going to have to teach Sabrina to dial 911 if I continue with this. Jillian is a bitch.)

Returned 4 emails.

Showered and dressed myself.

My wonderful, supportive hubby called around 12:30.  He asked what I was doing.  I said “nothing” but mentioned both girls were asleep (this condition lasted for less than 15 minutes).  He says “So why aren’t you sleeping too?”  You notice I haven’t mentioned lunch for myself yet? And that I still have laundry in the dryer and more to do.  Plus I had to write this blog post as I chuckled over his cute but clueless question in the shower.

*No, I don’t think I’ve accomplished anything remarkable today.  I do less in a week than many moms do daily.  Just pointing out that men have little idea what a day in the life of mommy looks like.

I must disagree with you. You have accomplished A TON for the day. You ate a real cooked breakfast, cleaned something, and entertained children. You are seriously awesome!

Oh, and my husband sometimes calls and is like “if both babies are sleeping why aren’t you.” I don’t think he realizes the laundry fairy and the kitchen cleanup dragon are mythical creatures.

You don’t give yourself enough credit, as many of us SAHM’s do!! Two young ones is a ton of work–as is blogging, and checking blogs. IT is important stuff:>) Seriously, I didn’t have blogs, internet, etc. when Cassie was small, and I was a little nutty, and depressed/lonely. This stuff makes me feel not so alone. Sad, yes, but hey, I take what I can get.

Steve is very sweet and thoughtful. Tonight when he is doing all those chores tell him you took his advice and took a nap!! Often it is easy for people to think that being home is bon bons and Oprah. But, last I checked Dora is no OPRAH!!!

You did all that with TWO kids AND a dog??? I didn’t accomplish nearly as much. Guess I better get my lazy tail off the couch and unload the dishwasher. I just knew those kitchen fairies were coming today…

LOL!! I wish My hubby would read this, then he’d get some clue what mom’s do during the day.

i think that one of my favorite things about you is your liberal use of the term “pie hole.”
i expect you to use that term at least 3 times during the wedding toast. k?

UGH! The making food, feeding, cleaning the kids, cleaning the kitchen 5 times a day (3 meals and 2 snacks) makes ME INSANE. That totally counts as enough to get done in a day!

    A) I think you’re an amazingly accomplished momma.

    B) I have this intense love/hate thing with Jillian. I hate how condescending she is to that beginner girl (Anita, maybe? The one she calls “Buddy” all the time?), but by the end, I feel like she’s really rooting for me. I am also slightly delusional at that point.

    C) I totally missed out on RHOC. I’m hoping for Atlanta to start up again soon.

I make sure the kids are fed and happy, but I have quit on the housework. Often on the getting dressed (any of us). Luckily Daddy thinks its funny to come home and find us all in the pjs we wore to bed last night and the house a disaster area. He’s stayed home alone with the girls when I’ve had to go to conferences enough to know what it’s like! (I made sure of that!)

I was actually quite impressed by your list. You vacuumed AND did laundry AND cleaned the toilet AND fed the kids. You’re my hero. 😉
