Cop Out

November9

Stupid NaBloPoMo…I got nothing today. But feel obligated to post since I signed up for the stupid thing.

* Ads are probably still coming. I’ve been too lazy to figure out how to get them on the blog.

* Sabrina’s afternoon grumpiness has benefited a bit from an earlier bed time but this has resulted in her waking up 1.5 hours earlier. This makes her non-morning person mommy grumpy.

* Sabrina has suddenly decided she hates baths and doesn’t particularly like meat. She’s always been a fan of both in the past. Now she screams bloody murder during her bath – the neighbors probably have Children Services on speed dial at this point. And the only way I can get her to eat meat is if I give her only meat at the beginning of her meal and then fruit and veggies after she has eaten most of it. I’m also trying some other forms of protein. Her newest is chickpeas. But I have to take the outer peel/shell/whatever it is off or she sits and picks it off each chickpea and the meal takes 2 hours. (If you roll the chickpea between your fingers under water it will come right off in case you are curious what in the world I am talking about.)

* I get my husband back tonight. He’s been working very long hours for the past couple of months on a project and he tells me those crazy hours end tonight. Woohoo! I’ll be glad to see him roll in before Sabrina’s bedtime next week.

* That’s it. Have a great weekend. I’ll see if I can be more interesting tomorrow. But don’t bet on it.

Reese hates chick peas. I have tried several times. At least she will eat them. Have you tried tofu? I hear that works. I want to try it, but Joe is allergic to soy, and I worry about him coming into too much contact with it. It is bad enough that Reese is on soy milk. There are days I think about switching them………

On the bedtime situation. Have you tried napping her a little later in the day. I know sometimes I can stretch Reese a bit longer in the day, and it makes evening a bit easier. If he goes too bed too early he too is up way earlier than I want him to be. So, that is how I have done it with the girls and him. It has worked well for me–well, most of the time.

Like Carla, I didn’t find it boring at all!!

Alex went through a bath/protein strike at about the same age Sabrina is!! And I’m with you – we have to withold the fruit (if I can) so he gets other food into him. The one item that broke his protein strike was the inside of chicken egg rolls from our favorite Chinese restaurant. He got cabbage, carrots and chicken in him and I couldn’t have been more happy!!

We’ve also been giving Alex these fruit smoothies called Naked Juice. They have different versions, but there is a Protein one – lots of protein in those things, and it’s all fruit juice. Alex LOVES his juice!!

I know that Carrie (mom to Savannah) also does Hummus – that may be easier then always trying to shucking the chickpeas.

yep, sometimes it’s hard to get meat in here too. I always keep the fruit completely out of sight until the meal is done, then it comes out. The child would gorge herself on nothing but fruit if left to her own devices.

Feeding kids in courses DOES work!!

I was going to email you about how you prepare those chick peas…and now I don’t have to! : ) I’ll have to go the store so that I can be a chick pea shucker just like you… That just sounds weird.

    God bless.

I am giggling at Tera’s “chick pea shucker” comment above. I hadn’t thought to try chick peas or hummus. K. will only eat chicken, and lately he’s not a big fan of it unless it’s in a nugget form. I have been wondering other ways to get protein into him. Thanks for the idea.

Gosh, I would have bailed on blogging every day after day one or two. You’re doing GREAT.

    Welcome back, Steve! 😉

Such is life. Sometimes there just isn’t anything to report. I did notice a few new blogs you listed on your sidebar and I had to go check out the aardvark one. How could I not be intrigued?
