Leap of faith
I finally bought the first item for the baby. I’m 25 weeks pregnant today – it seemed like maybe it was time to show some faith in this pregnancy – or at least stop waiting for the worst to happen. I stopped at a consignment sale on Friday. I was looking for an outside toy or 2 for Miss Sabrina since we will finally have some outside space for her to play. I saw a very nice motorized swing for $10. It has an activity center that snaps on the tray and is gender neutral. We have no toys or accessories for a baby younger than 7 or 8 months because Sabrina wasn’t home as a newborn. So I bought Sabrina a little ride on toy for the back porch and the swing for the baby. I then immediately called Steve and asked him to reassure me that the baby is fine and I didn’t jinx us by buying a baby item. (The baby hadn’t been moving quite as much the previous couple of days leading me to worry a little.) He assured me that everything was fine. I then called my BFF for the same reassurance (since she has a uterus she seemed more qualified to reassure me that quiet days from the baby are not cause for panic). We now have our first baby item and the baby has resumed its previous schedule of playing soccer with my bladder and rugby with my spleen so I feel better on that front.
You are not jinxing yourself one bit, woman. Just being wise and saving a buck or two where you can!
Did you meet the new doctor yet? Wonder if they’ll do another ultrasound. I can’t believe you had SO MANY before and still don’t know the sex. Or…maybe you’re not telling us? 😉
Orange juice…..if you ever need to get the baby kicking to ease your mind drink a glass of OJ and lay down! Worked every time for me!!!!!
Have fun moving into your new home!!!!!
GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Yeehaw for good baby deals!
I am sure it is hard to believe but you are going to have a baby! I don’t think you can jinx it at this point. And, you won’t stop worrying until it is here… and then a whole new set of worries begin.
I personally know 2 people, one who had a baby at 25 weeks and one at 27 and both are healthy young kids now. So, let yourself relax a bit and enjoy being an expectant momma of another child to add to your family!
Good for you for allowing yourself to enjoy!

Oh I am so happy for you…swings and bouncy chairs whoo hoo, now to the little bitty clothes…barely worn and available at consignment and thrift stores for a song!
I know you’ll continue to get more and more excited. And neat to buy stuff you didn’t get to with Sabrina.
Happy packing(ugh!!!!)
I don’t blame you for being cautious…..but you gotta take that leap of faith sometime! Good for you!
congrats on your purchase! Enjoy shopping!
Maybe it was retalitation (spelling?) on the baby’s part. Big Sis gets all the cool stuff, and this one had nothing!!! So, now it is thanking you!! Though I do know how you feel about the worry. I had no real reason to worry and I did, especially with my first. She was a very quiet in-utero baby. Really not much of a mover. I constantly feared the worst. Krista, well, I begged her to stay still for just a few minutes. But, I think it is time to have faith. You do need to get stocked up on some little baby items. You will enjoy it.
A tip: A bouncy seat. Can’t live without it!!
Michelle,
I think I sent you a website address a while back for baby names of siblings–do you still have that? I wanted to send it to someone else, but of course now cannot find it. It is the one where you put in your kid’s name and it spits out companion names for siblings . . .
Thanks,
cm
That is awesome!!Yeah for your baby resuming soccer!
