Preciousssss…*
January 12th, 2009(*Imagine the voice of Gollum for the correct tone.)
I’m torn between pointing out once again that my life doesn’t even sort of resemble its former self of 3 years ago or just embracing the mom-ness and getting on with it. It is Monday so I’ll go with the latter.
I have a new love in my life.
Through the generosity of family (aka the hoarding of gift cards for almost a year), I brought home my very own, beautiful, wonderful Dyson yesterday. She is amazing.
I vacuumed with my old vacuum and then broke out the Dyson and filled its cup with dust, dirt, and hair my old vacuum hadn’t picked up. The hype is to be believed…it really is that good. My only complaint was a result of my own stupidity. I read the manual but stopped at page 8…which is prior to the page that tells you how to empty the dirt bin. When you pull the red trigger, the bottom opens. If you don’t have it over the trash can, you might have to re-vacuum to clean up the mess you just made. But you’ll do so gladly because you love your new Dyson that much.

Holy cow. We got this as a Christmas gift. matt, too, is in love.
Me? Vacuuming is not my job.. But the floors look great!
And how gross is it to see all of the junk it picks up?

I hoarded birthday money and garage sale proceeds to buy one of these mofos 3 years ago. It does seem like a lot of money but this might be the last vaccum you ever need, so it’s pretty cheap if you think about it. I wish I’d waited a few months for the one on the ball though.
And i’m laughing because we made the same red trigger mistake, too.
Embrace your mom-ness, just skip the mom jeans.

These are great! I have the purple one! Have fun!

OMG – I just bought this exact vacuum the first part of december… and I’m in love. I haven’t been this excited over a piece of machinery since I received the beat-up old family four-door Chevy to drive when I turned 16. Come to think of it, that Chevy was yellow too.
I tell you, with two dogs and a kid this thing is a must. I don’t know whether to be astonished or embarrassed at the amount of dirt it picks up. Wait till you use the attachments… you will be ecstatic.
On the other hand, I do mourn the concept that I’ve reached the stage in my life where a new vacuum cleaner can be the most exciting thing that’s happened to me in along time. Eh… I’ll get over it. Gotta go vacuum now 🙂

THEY ROCK!! I have the purple one and have for 5 years!! For years I would go through a vac a year….no lie. This one….It’s never NOT worked – it grosses me out on a REGULAR basis!! Just don’t forget to clean the filter about once a month or you’ll freak and think something is wrong with it. Then you panic and think…..holy crap, I paid what for this monstrosity and now it doesn’t work. Clean the filter people…..REGULARLY!!! 🙂 I won’t ever buy another brand!

Mine lasted a little longer but I was replacing it every 18-24 months. Dog sheds his weight in hair each day. I was so disturbed by the amount of hair/dirt I got off just the steps with just the wand that I actually texted the photo to my husband at work. Sigh…I need to get out more.

Ok – if you all say it is a must I’ll start saving now. With 3 cats we have enormous amount of pet hair around. We always think about it – but how can it be worth that much money?

PS – embrace the mom-ness. Relish it, love it, celebrate it. And BTW I totally felt the Gollum chill-creepiness from your title.

We LOVE ours too. Jack doesn’t even mind it. When I get it out of the closet, he starts vrooming all over the living room and pushing one of his push toys around too. Too cute. Enjoy!!

Love my Dyson. Best invention. Especially for pet hair. My rugs thank me after a good vaccum!

I LUV ME SOME DYSON! T and I actually argue sometimes over who gets to vaccuum. Usually he wins. (i wonder why that is. wink wink)
But it’s an awesome product. I’m so happy for you

oooh envy. So pretty! 🙂
January 12th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
so glad you like it! i’d have felt bad after having given it such a glowing recommendation if you’d brought it home and it was sort of eh. amazing what collects in that canister even when the floors look relatively clean, isn’t it? ew.

Coming out of lurking to tell you
that you are one
very lucky woman!

De-lurking to say that these things are incredible! I can’t be the only one that was embarrassed/disgusted with the amount of dirt that this thing pulled out of my carpet the first time I used it. Definitely worth every penny. If you have them in your area, you can get them at Bed B a t h and Beyond and use their 20% off coupon. Still worth it without the coupon though.

Think it would have been good at sucking up lady bugs?
January 12th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Oh we are in the market, but I just didn’t believe that they would be worth that kind of money..I guess I need to reconsider now that I read what you guys have to say about it!

As a Mom, we have to relish all the good times, and don’t look back. How did you do that with the first picture. That was really cool.
That looks like quite the machine. Move over Steve!!

I’ve always wanted this vacume but didn’t know if it was worth the money. Now I know and I’ll be getting one ASAP. Thanks for sharing how great it is and Congratulations on your new vacume!

I want to know Amy’s ladybug story.

We LOVE our Dyson! Picks up all the nasty baby crumbs and cat hair that a lesser vacuum just couldn’t handle. Enjoy—-I now use my for drapes and furniture!
January 13th, 2009 at 11:01 am
Congrats! Great vacuum. We have a built-in vacuum system in our house, so I have no reason to get the Dyson, no matter how much I want to. What I’d really love to have is my very own carpet cleaner!!!

I love my dyson.
we had a civil union ceremony.
dont tell chris.

I have no carpet. All hardwood, baby. It’s either the broom or the shop-vac when I’m feeling lazy. No Dyson for me.
P.S. Totally bummed I’m not your first comment.

I bought a Dyson when they first came out. Love it!!! I think it’s the best investment I’ve ever made. With 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 kids it’s a must!!
