Hold the guacamole

April3

I decided to try and give Tessa some pureed avocado.  She’s still hanging out in the bottom of the growth chart – up to 14lbs as of 3/18.   Avocado is full of healthy fats and calories.

She wasn’t a fan. And for some reason this made me laugh so hard I had tears rolling down my face.

And someone asked in the comments last month how I liked my Flip video camera. I’m a big fan – this was filmed with it. It is really easy to use (although I can’t figure out how to get videos straight from it to work on my blog…but that might be my own deficit not the camera’s) and small enough to carry everywhere.

Michelle, crack me up! My husband says you should send it in to America’s Funniest Videos!
Thanks for starting my morning with a laugh!

    Very funny.

But keep trying, sometimes babies have to be introduced to a food upwards of 10 times. But you knew that.

Ok..well… I was thinking you deserve projectile vomit after that! I guess I need some more schoolin from typelittlea..seriously.

she is soooooooo stinkin cute. And your laughter to the point of noiselessness made me spit out my coffee.

HA HA HA…that made me laugh too. She’s cute even when she is disgusted!!!

That poor child! She definitely wasn’t a fan! Too cute.

    LOL. Poor Tessa.

You may want to save this video so that Tessa can show her therapist when she is an adult. If it makes you feel any better, Emily will be five in July and she is still not on the growth chart. I take that back, her head circumference is in the 1 percentile, woohoo. I used to be so obsessed with her weight and getting her on the growth chart that I would practically follow her around with a spoonful of lard and a Dove ice cream bar dipped in peanut butter. Then I realized as long as she is healthy and happy, screw the growth chart.

Too cute! She really is adorable. You should try whole milk yogurt (Yo Baby is my preferred brand). My baby is tiny too, I added melted butter to all her food as well. Fat is good for baby’s brain development, so don’t worry too much about fat being bad for her.

    HAPPY POW!

ROFL…love how you keep feeding it to her. Nice. And I’d like to respectfully disagree about the dairy, she’s too young IMHO. Try adding EPA/DHA (fish oil) to her food). And if she likes, say, sweet potato, you can add the avo to that. Feel free to email me if you want some other ideas. 🙂

    That’s so funny!!!

Try mixing mashed banana with the avacado. Someone told me to try that. A weird mixture but my daughter loved it.

That was effen funny! Love it. You are a very very mean mommy.

This cracked me up!!!! The way you kept trying (good Mom!) and the way she kept trying it like she’d hopefully find something better on that spoon! And her faces!!! So funny. Mixing it with banana sounds like something a baby would like. Our daughter’s favorite baby food was smashed sweet potatoes. And don’t worry so much about her being on the growth chart. The doctor’s always say as long as their growth is consistent with their past growth, they are on track with where they should be.

I was thinking the same thing as Heather. Each time she goes in for another bite you can almost see her thinking ‘ok this can’t be as bad as the last bite’!! She is so stinkin’ cute!

Those damn growth charts should be burned!! But, her face was pretty precious. Poor baby gagging. Hope you gave her some yummy fruit after that!!

LOL, poor thing…I guess you were right she’s really not a fan!

  17. On April 5th, 2009 at 3:47 pm DD Says:

I can’t believe she kept letting you try putting it back into her mouth. Maybe if she regurgitated it just ONE MORE TIME, it’d taste better, huh?

That is too funny! Surprisingly Cameron makes the same face. I cannot get him to eat guacamole to save his life. You would never know he is a Guatemala baby!!

    Hugs,

    Mindy

We haven’t tried avocado yet, but I get that face when I try to give Lyla mango. I’m trying to find something to mix it with since I hate to throw it out, but she gags and everything. Drama queen! 🙂

That’s awesome. I highly recommend lemons when she’s a couple months older. My daughter couldn’t get enough of them and the entertainment factor made it so worth it!!!

Michelle, That is too cute! She is getting so big! What a sweetie pie!I used to always film or take pictures of my babies too when then gagged on food! Cruel parents we are! lol!
