Wide Open Spaces

April6

dsc09422Is everyone tired of me lamenting my inability to keep my babies babies? Then look away.  I was always a little sad and a little proud when Sabrina moved from one stage to another but I knew that there would be another child some how, some day.  But Tessa is our last baby and she just keeps breaking my heart growing.  This weekend, we put away the baby swing.  I will never again have a sweet baby napping in a baby swing.  Sure, I am happy to get this piece of living room real estate back but I just can’t help but be sad.

dsc09402We are still working half assed slowly on potty training.  Sabrina is having more success at actually going when on the big girl potty.  She earns a half sheet of stickers when she goes.  She chose to use 2 of her rewards to cover Daddy with Dora stickers.  Steve was a good sport until she put them on his arms and tried to pull them off, taking some hair with them.

*************

Sabrina is enchanted with her Easter bow.  She has trouble leaving it alone because she wants to talk to and kiss the bunny.

This day, she settled for hopping like a bunny.

I know what you mean. I am so excited and proud to see Elizabeth progress and grow, but sad to realize she is just not a baby anymore…

I cannot even stand the cuteness in the hopping-Easter-Sabrina-bunny picture.
Are you SURE you don’t want another one? ‘Cuz seriously, you got some stinkin’ gorgeous kids.

oh, and the fact that you TOOK A PICTURE of the carpet where the swing ONCE STOOD is totally pathetic and adorable.

Only a blogger would take a picture of the empty spot where the swing stood. Pathetic or dedicated? Not sure but perhaps we’ll just let that be rhetorical.

Alexis was more determined to use the big girl potty than the potty chair. Which I was okay with since I thought the potty chair cleaning was gross. So I gave it away and bought a little step stool from Ikea so she can reach. You can download some Dora training charts at http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com for her to use with her stickers. This reward system worked well for the first month. Then we had to move on to M&Ms. Now the reward is getting to pick her big girl underwear for the day. But it all worked and now she stays dry all night just in a pull up. So I guess we are finally going to convert her crib into the toddler bed against this sad mommy’s wishes. It is the only baby thing left as it was when we brought her home. I can’t believe it will be 2 years this month. BTW my hubby and I had a date nite and we both left the house wearing stickers on our body that we didn’t find for the first hour of our date.

Krista did better w/the regular potty too. At least she will try. Reese puts his trucks in it!! What a good Daddy Steve is

I know how you feel about packing things away. I am really feeling it w/Reese now since he is my last baby.
