Boredom busters
August 12th, 2009I’ve been trying to keep the girls entertained since the departure of Grandma and Pap-pap. Sabrina asks if we are going to swim every time we get in the car. She has been very defiant (No! You can’t turn off the tv!) and rather mean to her sister (taking things out of her hands all. damn. day). Guess I better get used to it – the threes are almost upon us.
Boredom buster #1- blocks
Boredom buster #2 – Popcorn (I have no idea why but popping and eating popcorn is a major highlight of her day)
Boredom buster #3 – Playdates. Sabrina heard Steve and I say we were going on a date last weekend and immediately asked “Can I come too?” We obviously told her no. Today we went to play with another little girl. She walked around all morning saying “I have a date.”
Can you tell by the cute matching outfits that Grandma was here recently?

Boredom relief suggestion: All the back to school stuff is on sale. I bought a 24 pack of crayons for 19 cents & a spiral notebook for 5 cents, gave them to my 3 & 5 year olds and said make a picture on every page. It lasted about an hour, but it was a nice, cheap break for me.

I’m impressed that you never mention dvds as “boredom busters.” They work like a charm for Maddy. Dora, Strawberry Shortcake…she can watch them over & over & over!
Love the matching outfits! Very glam!

Two of mine are at the same stage (one shares a b-day with Sabrina) and I’m not going to like 3 at all. Our saviors are our little two ring pool, the sprinkler, playground, park, books, blocks, and play food. My kids love popcorn too.

You all just better prepare yourselves…3 is NOTHING compared to 11! (but the years BETWEEN 3 and 11 were pretty good!) 🙂

Those dresses are super cute.
Our favorite “boredom busters” lately are: (1) baking, (2) arts & crafts, and (3) reading stories. 🙂

Another “boredom buster” my daughter loved: a container of rice and a couple of plastic spoons, small bowls and cups. She was happy for an hour at a time! (just make sure you mention not to eat the rice!) And after the first time, I remembered to put a sheet or towel on the floor under the container!
